Delta Academy Provides Educational Support for Girls
As superintendent of Richmond Heights Local School District in OH, Renee Willis (Cavor) handles human resource management and district budgeting. In addition to her role with the school district, Renee Willis of OH is a founding member of the Civility Project, which promotes civility and social justice, and a 25-year member of national public service sorority Delta Sigma Theta.
Since its establishment in 1913, Delta Sigma Theta has united predominantly African American college-educated women in the pursuit of sisterhood, service, and scholarship. As part of its mission to strengthen African American families, the sorority contributes to public service initiatives such as the Delta Academy. Open to girls aged 11 to 14, the Delta Academy operates as an afterschool or weekend program aimed at increasing self-esteem and boosting academic performance. The program builds upon public school education, particularly filling in gaps in math, science, and technology. Additionally, Delta Academy focuses on teaching girls leadership skills to help them navigate the 21st century workplace.
